My Favorite cricketer

My favorite cricketer is AB de Villiers. He is a south African cricketer. In my opinion he is the perfect all rounder, he can wicket keep, bowl, field excellently and bat very well. He is currently the captain of the south African world cup team. He is one of the most stylish batsmen I know of, when he is on form with the bat he is hard to bowl against and very hard to stop him scoring. He is also an excellent fielder and wicket keeper. Some of the catches he takes are quite simply outstanding. My favorite inning of his was in 2010 on the 20th of November. He got 278 not out against Pakistan, although they ultimately drew the match. His most recent century was in the world cup when he got 166 not out against the West Indies on the 27th of February. He was on excellent form that match and got the 166 in just 62 balls shows how dangerous he can be when he's on form. Although AB isn't South Africa's best bowler in times of need he will preform well and might even take a wicket. He is a fast player and has a very good pair of hands so naturally that makes a recipe for a good fielder.

Background information about cricket

No one is really sure when cricket started, some believe it started in Saxon or Norman times but this hasn't been proven.   It is believed that cricket survived as a children's game for many generations before it was taken up by adults around the beginning of the 17th century. Some believe it started from bowls, but with the invention of the batsman attempting to stop the ball reaching its target it turned into the game as we know it now. The first time cricket was definitely mentioned was in 1598 in a court case. The first ever international game was held in 1844 between the USA and Canada in New York. Now days over 50 countries world wide play cricket. But only 10 of them are full members of the international cricket council and they are India, Australia, England, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Sri Lanka. They are the only nations that play test cricket. The rest of the nations who play cricket play T20's and 50/50 matches. I think this is slightly unfair as all the countries deserve the chance to play Test cricket matches if they want to. Those are my overall views on the current system.

The World Cup

Right now the cricket World Cup is going on in Australia and New Zealand. Since I live in Ireland I am supporting them until they get knocked out if they do. But overall I think South Africa will win the world cup this year. They are the team who are most in form in my opinion. Also my favourite cricketer AB de Villiers plays for south Africa. If he is on form along with Hashim Amla, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel I think no one will be able to defeat them. Although I have named only a few of the  team members the rest of the team are very good players and deserve to win a world cup, also the team they have this year is a young team with not a lot of experience. They also can rotate the team as they have a very good supply of players willing to play. The perfect example of South Africa playing to their full potential was against Ireland. They managed to score  411/4 (50) that is almost at 8.22 runs per over.

                     One team who I feel have under preformed are the West Indies. Chris Gayle their big hitter hasn't preformed well bar one match where he got a double century. They have been beaten by Ireland who aren't even a full associate member. England are another team in my opinion who have underperformed . They have been relegated from the world cup in the group stages.
